Dear Clients and Referral Partners,
Earlier today, we released R. F. Meyer & Associates’ April 2024 e-newsletter. If you did not receive it by email, please see the link below to find it in PDF version on our website.
Our articles this month address three diverse subjects. The April 2024 articles cover:
- The Medicaid penalty period, and possible ‘undue hardship’: If you transfer assets within five years of applying for Medicaid, you could in fact face a penalty period. During this time, you would not be eligible for Medicaid benefits. An exception does exist, however.
- ‘Pre-authorization’ improvements for Medicare Advantage, Medicaid patients in 2026: If you need a medical procedure, you may have to hold off on treatment until you have received approval from your health insurance plan. Starting in 2026, this may no longer be the case, once a new federal rule becomes effective.
- Promoting healthy aging during Financial Literacy Month: April is Financial Literacy Month, and financial literacy is a critical component of aging well. It promotes economic freedom, helping you afford care and housing as you grow older. This article is full of helpful tips for seniors.
I hope you find these April 2024 articles interesting and informative. Please contact our experienced staff at R. F. Meyer & Associates should you need more information or help with any of these topics, or assistance with any Elder Law, Estate Planning or Probate Law issue.
Reach our Worthington offices by calling 614-407-7900, by sending email to [email protected], or just fill out the contact form on our website, at elderlaw.us/contact, and we will get right back to you.
Have a great rest of your April.
Sincerely,
Richard F. Meyer, Esq.
