Earlier today, we sent out the March 2024 e-newsletter from R. F. Meyer & Associates. If you did not receive it by email, please see the link below to find it in PDF version on our website.
Our articles this month tackle three important subjects. The March 2024 topics are:
- The Medicare “spend down”: To qualify for Medicaid, you must have limited income and assets (in most states, no more than $2,000 in your name). If you have more than that, you may find yourself having to “spend down” your extra assets to meet the limit. But that spending can go beyond just medical bills.
- The many forms of help available to caregivers seeking to keep their aging loved ones in their homes: More than three-quarters of adults over the age of 50 say they would prefer to age in place than move to a long-term facility. A wide range of help is available for families working to meet that desire.
- A new ranking of the best and worst states for elder abuse has been released: Each year, 10 percent of older adults experience some form of abuse. In addition to physical harm, elder abuse can also encompass financial exploitation, neglect, and emotional abuse. WalletHub has evaluated elder abuse protections in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. See how Ohio stacks up.
I hope you enjoy these informational articles. Please contact our experienced staff at R. F. Meyer & Associates should you need more information or help with any of these topics, or assistance with any Elder Law, Estate Planning or Probate Law issue.

Sincerely,
Richard F. Meyer, Esq.
