This morning, we released the November 2024 R. F. Meyer & Associates newsletter. If you did not receive it by email, please find a link below to access it from our website in PDF form.
The November 2024 newsletter presents three diverse articles, with topics ranging from “hoarding disorder” that most often afflicts older adults, to an expansion of the important QMB program, to how to file for Social Security retirement benefits.
More on those November 2024 topics:
Hoarding disorder in older adults: Challenges and resources — Hoarding disorder disproportionately affects older adults. While about 2 percent of the general population struggles with accumulating too many objects, hoarding impacts over 6 percent of people aged 65 and older. Physical ailments often add to our cause the problem, which only fairly recently was recognized in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. But help is available if your loved one is experiencing this mental health issue – for the loved one, and for the family.
Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB) program: A 2024 update — The Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB) Program is one of four types of Medicare savings programs. This fall, a new rule will ensure that many more people gain access to the program, designed to help recipients of limited resources cover Medicare deductibles, premiums and co-pays.
How to apply for Social Security retirement benefits — The federal government provides Social Security retirement benefits, a form of financial assistance, to individuals who have reached retirement age and have paid into the Social Security system through payroll taxes during their working years. Our article discusses how to make the application, and what documents you will need.
